You may have noticed if you've been to The Queen's Hall in recent weeks that we are now proudly scaffold-free and the main work on our roof and railings, supported by the Scottish Government and Historic Environment Scotland, is complete.
We celebrate our fortieth anniversary as Edinburgh's most intimate venue next year and the building will be 200 years-old in 2023. You can read more about our history here.
As well as having very necessary improvements to the outside of the building, we have also upgraded our bar, with a new look and much better drinks offering and have replaced the carpet in the gallery. You can read more and see further images here.
In addition we're refreshing our branding, which started with this new website and is being rolled out across all collateral throughout the year. New banners brighten up the front of this landmark building and give a crisp, modern look which complements the fine Georgian frontage.
(Evan Henderson, Chief Executive, The Queen's Hall)“We’re grateful for funding from the Scottish Government and Historic Environment Scotland which has enabled us to carry out vital repair work to our almost 200-year-old building and return its exterior to its former glory. As we approach our fortieth birthday in 2019, we’re excited about the future of The Queen’s Hall; we have a varied programme of music from the very best artists across all genres and our upgraded bar and new marketing have given a new lease of life to the venue.”
As a registered charity (SC 012294) we cannot cover our costs or improve the internal facilities of the venue without substantial support from donations given by individuals and Trusts and Foundations. One of our future goals is to replace the cushions on our A-listed pew seating which was designed to keep parishioners awake during sermons and can be a little harsh on modern gig-goers.
