Howard Blake's delightful settings of Robert Louis Stevenson poems form the centrepiece of this concert by the critically acclaimed NYCOS National Girls Choir.
The wonderful stories conjured up by a young boy as he lay sick in bed are given charming music by the composer of The Snowman. Conducted by Christopher Bell with piano from Claire Haslin.
National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCOS) formed its National Girls Choir in 2007, to give girls aged 12–16 a unique opportunity to sing together to the highest standards. Performing regularly throughout Scotland, NYCOS National Girls Choir has been invited to sing at world-class music festivals including BBC Proms in the Park, Edinburgh International Festival, Aberdeen International Youth Festival and Lammermuir Festival.
Jeremy Summerly on BBC Radio 3“This youth choir is so on it - the vitality, the diction, everything that you want from a young choir is there. It’s beautiful; it’s very grown up but youthful too.”
