Flickering candlelight, atmospheric architecture, and music of illumination, reflection and warmth…
Scottish Ensemble’s much-loved advent concert pairs glowing candles with music of hidden depths. Renaissance and Baroque works, radiating with midwinter warmth, sit alongside lingering contemporary sounds that will stay with you long after the concert ends.
The UK’s leading string orchestra will be joined by the talented Sean Shibe on classical guitar. Having only recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Sean is already establishing himself as a musician who is avoiding cliches, challenging pre-conceptions and championing the new. The BBC New Generation artist has already been turning heads at high-profile concerts and music festivals and, in May 2018, Sean was awarded a prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society award.
The Arts Desk“…genius, a term which should rarely be applied to performing musicians, but at 25 he [Sean Shibe] has it”
