About Kim Carnie Trio

Award-winning singer and composer Kim Carnie has featured not only on some of the UK’s biggest stages but across the world via film and computer game soundtracks, including Netflix’s 'Outlaw King', 'Black Mirror' and 'The Bard’s Tale'. Since launching her solo career in 2018, Kim has become one of the most sought-after singers and session vocalists that Scotland has to offer, having worked with producers including Jim Sutherland (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen), Donald Shaw (Capercaillie) and Ged Grimes (Simple Minds). In 2019 and 2020, she also joined bands Mànran and Staran, respectively, as lead singer.

Her 2022 album 'And So We Gather' has been recognised as one of the 'biggest folk and Gaelic records of the generation', bringing together some of the brightest names on the Scottish music scene, from Donald Shaw, Julie Fowlis and Karen Matheson, to Senegalise Kora player Kadialy Kouyate and award-winning saxophonist Matt Carmichael.

About Malin Lewis Trio

Innovator, award winning, multi-instrumentalist Malin Lewis melds Scottish West coast tradition with a newly invented, self-made bagpipe alongside stars Sally Simpson (Fiddle) and Ali Hutton (Guitar). Hair-tingling, philosophical and dance-inducing melodies inspired by European folk traditions, queerness and the universe. Inspired by the likes of Martyn Bennett, Duncan Chisholm and Sharron Shannon their music is as lively as it is thought-provoking and sensitive. Recently Malin has been recording music for The Outrun starring Saoirse Ronan,  composing for contemporary dance and theatre and has been learning the tradition of the extinct Finnish Bagpipes.

Malin released their debut album 'Halocline' in May 2024 on Hudson Records. A Halocline is a visible layer that forms between salt and fresh water and is home to a unique microbial ecosystem. Halocline is a metaphor for Malin’s trans identity and living in a space in between; a beautiful space between a binary.

About Heal and Harrow

The 16th and 17th Century Scottish Witch Trials were one of the darkest periods of Scotland’s history. An estimated 2500 people were executed, 80% of whom were thought to have been women. In this project, Rachel Newton and Lauren MacColl pay a humanising tribute to these women while also exploring historical beliefs in the supernatural and modern-day parallels in our society. Each piece of music is based on specially commissioned works by celebrated author Mairi Kidd - tales inspired by and in remembrance of real women who were persecuted and tried as witches and characters from the folkloric tales and mythology enshrined in our oral culture.

Rachel (The Shee, The Furrow Collective, Spell Songs) and Lauren (Salt House, Rant) are firmly established as two of the country’s most celebrated folk musicians. They have collaborated on each other’s projects for many years, and this project is a perfect and timely opportunity to work together as a duo for the first time.Their performance will feature newly composed music with accompanying visuals to highlight this fascinating and important subject.
