Ukrainian baritone Andrii Kymach was the First Prize Winner of the prestigious BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2019.
His world premiere recital accompanied by his Cardiff vistuoso accompanist LLYR WILLIAMS took place on the 9th August 2023 with McFarlane. Entitled UKRAINIAN SONGS & OPERA ARIAS it formed the centre-piece of McFarlane's TRILOGY TO UKRAINE 2023. In 2024, KYMACH returned to Edinburgh for McFarlane's "ARIAS" to celebrate the 35th anniversary of The Twinning of Edinburgh and Kyiv (1989-2024).
In his 2022/23 opera season, Andrii has given a very successful debuts at Houston Grand Opera as Pere Germont in La Traviata, Opera Australia as the title role in Don Giovanni and Chicago Lyric Opera as Escamillo in Carmen. This Summer, he will sing Tomsky in Queen of Spades at the Grange Festival.
Recent highlights include his house and role debut at the Gran Teatro del Liceu Barcelona as Sir Riccardo Forth (I puritani) alongside Javier Camarena and Pretty Yende, role and house debut singing Lord Enrico Ashton (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Auditorio de Tenerife, title role in Don Giovanni at Opera de Nice and Théâtre d’Antibes, as well as Welsh National Opera plus a concert performance of Rubinstein’s The Demon (title role) at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Escamillo Carmen at The Royal Opera House 2024 and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Giorgio Germont La traviata at the Houston Grand Opera, Tomsky Pique Dame at the Grange Festival and Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Sir Riccardo Forth I puritani at Gran Teatre del Liceu, Robert Iolanta at the Royal Albert Hall, Don Giovanni with Opera Australia, Opéra Nice and the Welsh National Opera, Lord Enrico Ashton Lucia di Lammermoor at Auditorio de Tenerife, Rubinstein’s The Demon at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, concerts with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and Konzerthaus Berlin.
Upcoming: Ford Falstaff and Sir Riccardo Forth I puritani with Opéra national de Paris, Escamillo Carmen with the Polish National Opera, the title role in Eugene Onegin with the Canadian Opera Company, return to The Royal Opera House.
