Born in Gwangmyeong, South Korea, Sungho first earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Korea National University of Arts under Prof. Kwangsun Song, followed by a Master's degree at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, studying with Prof. Ewa Wolak and Ks. Julia Varady.
In June 2023, he won the Song Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Among his numerous other accolades is the First Prize at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition (2018), Third Prize, 'die Meistersinger von Nürnberg International Singing Competition' (2022), the 47th 'Nanpa Music Competition' in Suweon (2015), the 33rd Daegu Singing Competition in Daegu (2015), the Gloria Opera 'Yang suhwa' Competition, and the National Singing Competition in Seoul.
In the 2023/24 season, he performed as Rodolfo ('La Bohème'), Quyokuma/Fantastikuss (world premiere of 'The Journey to Planet 9'), and Froh ('Das Rheingold'). In the 2024/25 season, he will be seen as Alfredo Germont ('La Traviata), Alfred ('Die Fledermaus'), and Don Ottavio ('Don Giovanni').
