Award-winning singer-songwriter Niki King returns to the iconic Queen's Hall in Edinburgh on the 10th February 2024 for an exclusive launch of her brand new album 'The Everlasting Energy of Love'.
With a celebrated career marked by numerous accolades and five star reviews, Niki King’s new album is her most heartfelt, authentic and emotive body of work to date, delving deep on universal truths of love, loss, grief, connection and renewal, following her own experience of personal loss.
The new album features world class, award winning musicians including a live string quartet and they will be joining King for this one off concert at The Queen's Hall, Edinburgh, ahead of the worldwide release in spring 2024.
King’s music brings to mind the live, raw, vintage sound of classic productions from the 60’s but with a contemporary edge, fusing elements of jazz and soul, all held together with the vocal dexterity of King’s powerful voice and authentic song-writing. The result is a beautiful and unique musical experience that is both deeply moving and highly up-lifting while feeling familiar, fresh and timeless.
King says: “Music is a universal language that can communicate and connect instantly and these songs have grown beyond my personal story, resonating more because they also touch on universal truths that many of us share and experience at different points in our lives.”
Niki King’s new album 'The Everlasting Energy of Love' delves deep lyrically both emotionally and philosophically with a previous 5 star review describing King as “a must see for music lovers and deep thinkers alike” (EdFest Mag). King’s lyrics sit within a soulful fusion of classic vintage beats, soaring Hammond organ, vibrant brass and backing vocals, alongside deeply sensitive ballads with majestic harp and beautiful string arrangements. Front and centre throughout are King's emotive songs and incredible voice that take you on a journey from the pin-drop sensitive to the power-house mighty.
King’s authentic sound comes straight from the heart and soul and it is little wonder The List hailed her as “the outstanding Scottish female vocalist of all time”.
Support is from singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paul Gilbody whose organic blend of Acoustic Groove and Neo-Mellow regularly draws comparisons to the likes of Seal, Sting and Jason Mraz.
(EdFestMag)★★★★★ “The room hangs on her every word, her every vocal run and the way she can flip from sweet and intimate to raucous and passionate in a matter of milliseconds. Her voice rings out, flawless and captivating, even more so when she sings her own songs, telling her own story.”
(Evening News)★★★★ “This jazz/soul chanteuse has the word ‘star’ stamped all over her…”
