Armida String Quartet

The acclaimed Berlin-based Armida Quartet close out New Town Concerts' season.

The Armida Quartet and friends give the final concert of the New Town Concerts season with a dazzling programme of late Romantic works for string quartet and sextet by Mendelssohn, Brahms, Strauss and Schoenberg.

Since the Quartet last played here six years ago as BBC Young Generation artists and European Concert Halls Rising Stars they have become one of the most sought after ensembles in Europe. This time, they bring with them two distinguished friends and colleagues to play Richard Strauss's enchanting Sextet from his opera Capriccio and Schoenberg's intense vision of two lovers' Transfigured Night (Verklärte Nacht), one of the landmarks of the extended string chamber music repertory.
