2020 is proving such a difficult and trying year for many reasons.
As well as the dreadful health implications for many thousands of people and their friends and family, the careers and livelihoods of so many musicians, event organisers, venue and hospitality staff will take a long time to recover, if they can ever be the same again.
So, in the darkness, it's lovely to be able to listen to some of the wonderful music that should have been enjoyed in our auditorium from the best room in your house. It might not be quite the same as communal listening with a rapt audience, but it's uplifting stuff as we go into the longer winter nights.
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra have been broadcasting a new show, recorded in The Queen's Hall, each Thursday during October. You can view them on their YouTube channel for 30 days from broadcast.
8 Oct Schumann & Brahms
15 Oct Poulenc & Farrenc
22 Oct Bernstein, Barber & Coleridge-Taylor
29 Oct Mozart & Mendelssohn
We really feel for the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh who had a whole raft of events planned to celebrate their 350th birthday during 2020. You can still book for their Christmas Lights and enjoy Dunedin Consort's celebratory concert, Nature's Voice here.
Dunedin Consort have had to cancel other shows, including the new commission 'How Lonely Sits the City'. This should be available to view online from 19 November here.
And if you enjoy this online content and can afford to do so, any donations you can make to support these organisations would be greatly appreciated and can be done via their websites.
We look forward to the day when we can welcome you back to the Hall, but in the meantime, let these online experiences keep you going.
