Following her two American Music Association Awards for 2015 album Blackbirds, Gretchen Peters’s 2018 album Dancing With the Beast marked another career high.
Blending shades of country-rock, indie-folk and Southern gothic with Peters’s smokily honeyed voice, it features all-female characters, from pre-teen to elderly, whose stories vividly illuminate both the personal and political. Reprising her headlining set at the 2019 Celtic Connections Festival, Gretchen will be joined by her band Barry Walsh (piano and accordion), Colm McLean (guitar) and Conor McCreanor (bass) plus a string quartet first seen at Perth's Southern Fried Festival in 2018.
Gretchen was a special guest this year on The Transatlantic Sessions tour in February with Jerry Douglas, Aly Bain and Donald Shaw.
This is Gretchen's only Scottish date in her UK tour, so catch her while you can.
