Na Clarsairean (the Scottish Harp Orchestra) directed by Isobel Mieras, and pupils of George Watson’s College led by Rosemary McKerchar.
Join us in our annual concert of festive seasonal music accompanied by a veritable host of harps. Na Clarsairean (gaelic for the harpers) along with harp players from other parts of Scotland and musicians and singers from George Watson’s College present magical music, singing and carols for all.
Leave behind the bustle of Christmas shopping and relax to the unique, heavenly sound of more than 50 harps in a joyful afternoon of Christmas music, blending specially arranged new delights with familiar favourites.
Each year the proceeds of the raffle and a proportion of the ticket sales are donated to a particular charity and this year we are delighted to be supporting SANDS Lothians (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society).
This event has finished, but you can read more about folk music at The Queen's Hall and across Edinburgh here and find out about upcoming folk shows at The Queen’s Hall here.
SANDS Lothians is an Edinburgh based community charity, providing compassionate care for families, following the death of their baby, through specialist bereavement services, including befriending and counselling.
When a family's baby dies, it is incredibly traumatic and extremely lonely time as parents struggle to find others who understand the confusing feelings and overwhelming emotions they experience. The charity has a range of services to support bereaved parents through this by phone, email, 1-2-1 and group befriending, as well as counselling. SANDS Lothians is the only charity in Edinburgh specialising in baby bereavement counselling and all their services are free and open ended.
