The Queen’s Hall welcomes applications from experienced, dynamic individuals who have a passion for music and the arts for the following role:

DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Salary: £23-25k pro rata
Location: The Queen’s Hall, Clerk Street, Edinburgh
Terms: 21hrs per week, initially 12-month contract

The Queen’s Hall is an independent charity and a key cultural venue in Edinburgh. The Hall’s excellent acoustic and intimacy enable us to deliver a programme which includes classical, jazz, folk, rock, pop and contemporary music as well as spoken word and comedy. We are an Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe venue, playing an important part in the development of Scottish audiences and musicians.

We have recently undergone an extensive building refurbishment programme funded by Historic Environment Scotland and the Scottish Government. Having celebrated our 40th Anniversary throughout 2019, we now plan to refresh our programme, facilities and venue to take into account new audiences, new venues, new musical genres and the expectations of our customers. This is a fantastic opportunity to assist in developing and furthering the ambition of The Queen’s Hall in our aim to raise appropriate funds to realise the venue redevelopment project in line with our QH2025 Artistic Strategy.

This role is a crucial part of a small team and as such, the post-holder will be expected to provide support across a diverse range of areas. The Development Officer will be responsible for implementing our fundraising strategy to increase regular giving from individuals. The successful candidate will have experience of building relationships with people through excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise in a busy work environment and strong administration and organisation skills. The role will involve the day-to-day management of our fundraising database, requiring careful attention to detail and discretion in handling confidential material.

The post holder will work as a member of the development and fundraising team which will include; The Queen’s Hall’s Chief Executive, Development Manager, and nominated Board representatives plus a range of external consultants. The post-holder will also work closely with the marketing team to ensure all fundraising is on brand and key messaging is delivered within the venue’s overall schedule and marketing strategy. The post has funding in place for 3 years, although is offered initially on a 12-month basis, and offers an exciting opportunity to join a progressive team in the UK’s leading festival city.
