The Scottish Chamber Orchestra have also announced their latest season at The Queen’s Hall. Subscription packages are on sale at the moment, with single tickets going on sale from Monday 8 June 2009.

Scottish Ensemble - 40th Anniversary Season

The Queen's Hall is delighted that our friends at the Scottish Ensemble have announced their latest season:

"This season is particularly special as we celebrate forty years of music-making. From its creation in 1969 as the ‘Scottish Baroque Ensemble’ by the charismatic Leonard Friedman and publisher, John Calder, the Ensemble has pushed musical boundaries, performing repertoire that stretched far beyond the ‘Baroque’ in its name. From Bach to Berio, and beyond, we are offering some remarkable music in unfamiliar settings and stimulating contexts." (Jonathan Morton, Artistic Director)

The Ensemble’s Queen’s Hall 09/10 season is as follows:

Fri 23 October '09: Side by Side
Jonathan Morton & Clio Gould, violins and RSAMD strings.
Bach, Berio, Vaughan Williams and Tippett.

Fri 11 December '09: Winter Light
Curated by John Woolrich, composer.
The Ensemble’s traditional candlelit concert which includes John Woolrich’s new work Capriccio.

Fri 12 February '10: Toby Spence sings Jacques Brel.
Set in cabaret style seating sit back and enjoy the music of Brel, Satie and Schwertsik.

Fri 23 April '10: Eight Seasons.
Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons together with Astor Piazolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.
