NEWS / The Queen's Hall Appoints Interim Chief Executive

The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland’s premiere mid-sized venue (c1,000), is delighted to announce the appointment of an interim Chief Executive, Karen Wood.  Karen joins the team at The Queen’s Hall, following the recent retirement of the Hall’s much respected Chief Executive, Adrian Harris.

Karen brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been instrumental in establishing the Edinburgh International Conference Centre from the start of construction in 1993, to the successful running of the centre for more than 20 years.  She subsequently played a pivotal role in the design, delivery and Royal Opening of the expanded EICC in 2015, an event which was attended by HRH Princess Anne.

Whilst at the EICC, the first conference centre worldwide to be accredited with ISO9001 and Investors in People (IIP), before going on to become accredited with a total of 7 quality standards including EFQM, Karen held the role of Head of Events, orchestrating the successful delivery of more than 3,000 events and 1 million delegates from around the globe.  For a period of two years, she also held the additional role of Head of Sales and Marketing.
Nigel Griffiths, who chairs The Queen’s Hall Board, said: “We are pleased that Karen brings a wealth of experience to this interim role in what is an extremely important year for The Queen’s Hall.”
