The Night Visitors Revisited

25 February 2018 at 7:30pm

Pleasance Cabaret Bar
On the 25th anniversary of the release of Private by the Night Visitors, the band, David Heavenor and Simon Jaquet, is re-forming for a one-off live performance of the album, which Ricky Ross of Deacon Blue claimed contains "one of the best songs ever written" (Jenny and the Cold Caller). They are joined by Jen Hill on double bass, William Jaquet on drums, Caroline Brown on clarinet and vocals, and Andy Thornton on keyboards.
In the quarter century that has slipped away since Private's original release in 1993, David has produced several albums, working with Steve Butler (Winter’s Children & The Innocent’s Eye) and Davy Scott (The Automatic Eye) and can often be heard on BBC Radio Scotland.  Simon has played and recorded with Duncan Senyatso - Botswana's leading traditional musician, formed Flaming Nora - Leith's red hot ceilidh band, and performs with davesnewbike.
The band will showcase Private in its entirety (including Linger and Go, “A masterpiece of songwriting” The Scotsman), Blues with No Name, and Child of my Heart, plus other unreleased tracks. Downloads and copies of the original album will be available at the gig or included in a premium ticket. All profits will go to Fast Forward Positive Lifestyles Ltd, whose offices in Leith played unwitting host to early demo recordings for the album.
