EXTERNAL EVENTS / Meadows Chamber Orchestra: Mozart - Rachmaninov - Beethoven

Inverleith St Serf's Church

Peter Evans: conductor; Raymond Yiu: piano

Peter Evans has chosen two epic compositions for this concert. Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto is one of the greatest and most virtuosic in the piano repertoire. Raymond Yiu, the outstanding Hong Kong Chinese pianist, grew up in Aberdeen and is now a post-graduate student at the Guildhall School of Music in London. Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony has done for music what Napoleon did for society – turning tradition upside down. It is a landmark in the musical transition from the Classical to the Romantic era. BBC Music Magazine has described it as the “greatest symphony of all time.”

Mozart: Overture – La Clemenza di Tito, K621
Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op 18
Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 in Eb major Op 55 (Eroica)
